Lost Marathon
Whats in a dream
A good friend of mine, and me, had a similar dream about 2 nights ago. We both dreamt about plane crashed that we were involved in somehow, and the details of the dreams were very similar. I am not sure what this all means, but it is very interesting. I believe there is something in a dream that we have to take note of and deal with. So for this dream I am not quite sure what it is, but it was weird none the less. The Australian Aboriginals believe that your dreams are the most powerful time of your existence. This is the story telling time, where you live, relive and repeat history, and all man kind. They believe that earth and all man were created when Kangaroos (the earth forefathers) went to sleep at Uluru (Ayres Rock) and started dreaming, dreaming up man, the world and everything else in it. This is why it is such a powerful and learning experience for them to dream.
Just a thought.

Stellenbosch

Its the latest craze in Stellenbosch. Everybody is driving around on bicycles. Students, business men, tourist, everybody. The city centre is a cycle zone. To add to this, I walked into 3 businesses today that has sensor lights. The lights stay off untill it detects movement, and then it turns on automatically. It seems like the 'Bosch' is getting this energy saving thing right! And then there are so many nice looking Afrikaans guys walking around the streets. I like coming to Stellenbosch

Our corrupt government strikes again
Well it comes as no surprise that once again the South African government displays it corrupt core, and proves to the world that they, and South Africa is for sale to the highest bidder. We allow people like Robert Mugabe to come and go into South Africa as he pleases, we give asylum to a despots like Jean Bertrand Aristide of Haiti, but we refuse a peaceful, loving, Nobel peace prize winning man of great spiritual wealth to enter the country. I refer, of course, to the Dalai Lama. South Africa has clearly shown its ugly money hungry face. The government is in very lucrative trade deals with China, a country that does not recognise any human rights. This in its self is a strange thing, seeing as the very government that deals with these people, fought for human rights for years. Now because China is still oppressing Tibet, and they don't want His Holiness to come to South Africa, our government bows so low down to China, that we refuse the Dalai Lama a visa. The excuse is that there is no significant reason for His Holiness to come to South Africa.
The only saving grace is that not every high powered official is this corrupt. The reason why His Holiness was coming to South Africa, was to attend a peace conference along side other Nobel Peace price winners, such as FW De Klerk, and Desmund Tutu. They have now officially refused to attend the conference without the Dalai Lama. Therefore the conference has been cancelled!!! Not that it is going to make a difference, but at least some people stand up to the corrupt few.

So much sadness
There is so much sadness in the world today.
Fundamentalists attacking people, and killing
People dying
People getting hurt
Corruption
I feel sad for all the sadness and all the instability and all the fearing unknowing around in the world.
And then I come to work.
Fundamentalists attacking people, and killing

I feel sad for all the sadness and all the instability and all the fearing unknowing around in the world.
And then I come to work.

Animal Rescue
I am convinced that people who work for animal rescue agencies are people who could not get normal jobs because they can only communicate with animals. They have zero personal skills. I had the joy of dealing with one of these agencies this morning in an attempt to get our cats sterilized. They are so short and dirty and mingy and not really friendly. One lady went off her rocker because I did not have their inoculation certificates with me and how "the vet is not going to wait for you to bring them when you fetch the cats, she is a busy lady you know", to which I answered: "well then someone should have told us to bring them along when we phoned!!!" She sort of backed down with her tail between her legs and took the cats away.I think the best way of communicating with these people is to meow, bar, scratch and bite them and then maybe they will understand.

Pedestrians
This morning I almost killed two coloured girls in Darling street who crossed the street where there wasn't even an intersection. One on her cell phone walking into the road so I had to slam on brakes. The thing that gets me about these monkey crossings, is that they always turn around to you, and start swearing at you and telling you that you were in the wrong.
Yesterday a black man crossed the road while the cars were driving and when the passenger hooted at him, he got agitated and started verbally abusing her. I am concerned for the state of this country when people do something wrong and then blame others for it.
Then we have the strollers.... The ones who stole across the road at a snails pace, even if they are crossing against a red light or in the middle of the road, and look at you with that blank baboon stare when you drive right up at them.
I am taking matters into my own hands from now on and am driving at them and its quote funny to see a few people spatter when you drive at them hooting!!!!

Fire Night
Last night we were at a friends house for a little party (birthday and St Patrick's day), when we left, there was a bank of smoke moving over the mountain towards the city. We all still speculated about it being a fire and not fog or cloud. At around 03:00am this morning I woke up feeling like I was choking to death. I felt like I was sitting in an ashtray. My eyes were burning, my lungs were burning, my throat was closed. I felt horrible. I soon realised it was because of a pending fire somewhere very close. Tristan asked me if I heard them evacuating people out of their houses, or if he had dreamt that. I didn't hear it so I thought he had dreamt it, but my father phoned me around 06:00am to ask if we were ok and if we had been evacuated as most people in Walmer Estate (our suburb) had been evacuated. I then realise Tristan had not dreamt it. This morning there is black soot all over our house, the mountain is singed, and the park where we walk our dogs is completely burned down. The fire came really close to our hood, and it was scary waking up in that smoke. This morning everything smells like smoke and I feel very sick from the smoke. The Cape Town fire season goes on.

Lent
I have decided to give up sarcasm and chocolate for lent. Now I have to explain that in the Dutch Reform Church, we do not take part in this Catholic tradition, however, I have decided to do this for three basic reasons. At first it was in solidarity with Tristan and his Anglican believes, then it changed into a positive aspect in that I wanted to eliminate a brick wall between me and God. i believe my sarcasm sometimes is what stops me form getting closer to God, because it sometimes makes other people feel less worthy. And the third reason is that I am readying myself for my pilgrimage at the end of the year, where I will be forced to endure many feelings of suppression. My problem is that I am battling with the sarcasm thing. I find it do difficult to stop using sarcasm to communicate with others. This is cause to worry for me. Am I so bad that I can only speak to others by using sarcasm. After having a chat to my father, I felt more comfortable, as about 90% of the time, my sarcasm is in good spirits and meant to lighten up a situation.
I am still battling to stop it for this 46 days....

International Voting
I feel its time to set the record straight. The ongoing voting issue for people in the overseas land, has never included immigrants. This was for people working overseas on working visas. The court granting them the right to vote is correct as they are still South African citizens, they just happen to be working overseas. My issue was with people who have immigrated. They are not allowed to vote as they have skipped the country and fled to their "greener pastures" and relinquished their right to decide what happens in our country....Now everybody vote to get the ANC out of our lives and make Jacob Zuma go to jail for as the criminal he is!!!!!!!!!!!!

My lucky day
Ok, now I am going to try my best to not be sarcastic, as it is still lent, but if I happen to slip, its written and doesn't count. Today is my lucky day. Working in a hotel, we have plenty of trainee hoteliers coming through our doors. Once in a while you get one that wants to learn about ALL the facets of the hotel. These are the ones that I get to drive around with me while I do my sales calls. First problem with this is, I have to introduce him as what??? This is a trainee that is my tail for the day??? Second problem is they are inevitably some youngster who I have nothing to talk to about. I don't relate well to kids anymore....Everybody in our office is going on about how lucky I am because they think this boy is hot. Let me paint the picture:
He has a small head, with Joburg hair (the picture exlaines Joburg hair). So his head looks huge with this little face. Then he has arms as long as my....car, and it looks out of place with his body. The worst of all however, is he is wearing Grasshopper shoes. Those black ones with the little trim on the top of the show....UGLY...
I have been told that he is very intelligent and very eager to learn. All I can ask for is that he is able to have an intelligent conversation and can talk about more than the clubs he frequent on the weekend, and which chicks at head office are hot!!!!
Its gonna be a long day....

Midweek Crap
This Wednesday has started really crappy. We are going to migrate to Vodacom and get a blackberry from work, and they want to keep our numbers when we leave.
So many problems with this. I have just upgraded my contract to a higher monthly so that I can cope with the call load, and if I loose my allowance, I would never have paid the R780 on my own. Then there is the fact that I will not give them my personal number, as that is my number I have had for many MANY years now. This means new number, and two phones again. Then I don't want to even start talking about going to Vodacom.
I will get the Blackberry and it will lay in my car for ever, as it is way too big and bulky for me to carry it around.
I am not a happy camper at work at the moment. It seems that everything that I was told when I started, is being changed.
