The door that Jacob hung

We finally moved into our new house. Our first house we bought. It was horrible. I gate moving more than anything in life, yet I do it so often. I made a promise to myself that I would be burried out of the house I stayed in before we bought this house. Well that did not happen. In the end we bought, moved and now we are in. We want to do alot to the house, but have to raise money first. We had to get a few dooes hung as there were doors missing and in bad shape. The professional did it for us at R600 a door, and it took him 6 hours to hang 2 doors. Last night I hung the last door for free and in 1 hour (only because we had to saw a piece off the door). It looks better than the professionals work, and now I am pissed off that we spent all this money on it.

The flight home

Its delayed and the airport is closed because of this...

On Amsterdam airport.

It started snowing this morning as I left the hotel. My work collegues organised a taxi for all of them and left without me from the hotel. When I eventually got to the airport, I had to pay excess luggage as I did not check in with the group. Now a snow blizzard started and I think we might be delayed. They also gave me a window seat in the back! I want to be at home now please...

Weather

The weather is really bad today. Snowig, raining, windy. And this morning I fell off my bike. I have been riding a bike around Amsterdam this whole week and today it went a little pear shaped. I will still get back on again.

The European Freeze

After a 12 hour flight that was extremely bumpy, all I wanted to do was get my jacket on and walk around in Amsterdam. Instead I am now sitting on the plane in Brussels airport, and going to be here for another 3 hours. There was too much snow in Amsterdam, so we diverted and now we wait. What a good start!

Something happened on the way...

....no AT the fair. We saw this owl but he did not want to look at me once.

Cape Town

They are changing the city centre by turning most of the streets around Greenmarket Square in to pedestrian walkways. This is creating such an European feel to the city. Maybe its all the quaint little coffee shops or restaurants lining the streets and around the square. Maybe its the newly created cobble streets. Maybe its the old buildings housing modern shops or maybe the European feeling just comes from the fact that everybody there spoke a foreign language....

THE HONEST TRUTH

Good old Julius

1 Day the teacher found Julius Malema in the Library photocopying blank paper, so she asked him "what are you doing Julius?"
he replied " I am making more paper"

One day Julius was enjoying the sun in South Beach in Durban.
A lady came and asked him, "Are you relaxing?"
Julius answered, "No, I am Julius."
Another guy came and asked him the same question.
Julius answered, "No! No! I'm Julius!"
A third one came and asked him the same question again.
Julius was totally annoyed and decided to shift his place.
While walking he saw a certain guy soaking in the sun.
He went up to him and asked, "Are you Relaxing?"
This guy was a lot more educated and answered, "Yes, I am relaxing."
Julius slapped him in his face and said,
"Hey wena... Everyone is looking for you and you are sitting over here

From a friend

I made a decision that all the art work in my house should be done by people I know. And that doesn't mean famous people who we all know, that means people who have been in my house or in my life. Then it means more to me. With this in mind, my latest acquisition is a painting done by a very close friends mother. She specially painted my two dogs (she started before we got the third one), and when this painting arrived this weekend I was blown away. It is amazing! I never expected it to be this good. It went onto the wall immediatly. Thank you!

Party on

Volvo launch

Last week Friday we got invited to the launch of the new Volvo S60. Such an amazingly beautiful car. I want one now! While there the Volvo team were dared to put on moustaches to celebrate this silly Movember (such a rediculously stupid idea forna goodncause). After that the pulled people from the crowd with real moustaches to take photos with. Tristan was one of these people. Then, just as I thought I was in the clear, they pulled me in to film a little skit for their facebook page. A crazy night.

The latest Joburg saga

I had to fly up here for the day to do some business and got a rental car. Low and behold, I reverse out of an underground parking, and into a pillar. What a way to start my trip...

Pretoria

This is the reason why Pretoria is called the Jakaranda city. They are blooming all over the city and its purple everywhere. Even if they are alien vegitation, they still make the city beautiful.

Joburg again

I am back in Joburg again on business but this time I decided it would be great to drive around town in a 1100 neon blue Atos. For some strange reason I had booked this group when I booked my car hire online. I am not sure what I was thinking about when I booked it. Now I look like the biggest queen on earth, calling on high powered clients in my girl car. I miss my Volvo!

Me in the morning

I walk into work every morning feeling like this. There are two girls who are here before me and they are always so depressed and don't say a word. Guess which one I am.

Had to do it...

I got this in an email this morning and don't really post other people's stuff, but I just had to post this one. It is sooooooo funny...

Finally

So I have been saying that I will be posting my car on here, and finally, here it is. Its a Volvo S40 and its a Cameleon Blue Pearl colour. So its blue and sometimes greenish, with a copper sheen in the light. I love it so much and it drives like a dream!

Mining and the world

So this whole week the world has been watching the Chilean Miners and specifically yesterday the whole day rescue effort. I have been sort of watching it from time to time and being an avid Skye News watcher in the mornings, have been forced to watch it as it is the only thing that was showing on international news channels the entire day. I am so happy they rescued all of these miners who have been stuck and away from their families. It must have been really crap being underground for that long not knowing what your fate will be. However. ENOUGH now. There are so many more important issues in the world happening that can be reported on. I mean who (apart form their families) wants to really see 39 men being pulled out of a hole in a suffocating tube at 100m per 5min??? I for one would rather choose to stay underground as apposed to going in that thing. Show the first one, maybe the second one, go to world news, the weather, show a few current affairs program then come back after a few hours and show the 3rd one. Not this pull by pull account of it. Its like those freaks who watch Big Brother while they are sleeping....

And in other news, our intelligent president has made it clear that he will once again use his power in the UN security council to further the cause of corrupt, autocratic, oppressive countries like Zimbabwe, Myanmar probably Iran....oh no wait sorry hes said to help struggling third world countries...

Nkosi Sikelei Africa....

A good start

I saw this sign at Cavendish (one of Cape Town's upmarket shopping centres). It was above the hand dryer in the gents toilet. We have serious landfill issues in our city at the moment, so this is a very welcome change of attitude. Unfortunately it is not the big corporate companies that worry me, its the small minded masses who have no issue discarding hundreds if bags of refuse per month...

Driving to work

I really need some sort of calming agent to get to work. I can not deal with these idiots on the road. There is not a single person on the road that can drive a car properly or know the rules of the road!!!! One day I am afraid i am going to get out of my car and kill someone.....

Nap time

After a long night of riaming the streets, our cats returned this morning and after breakfast had to take a nap in the flower pots. I wonder why nithing ever grows in these pots? Maybe its the CATastrophic wind.... Sorry I had to.

Birthday Weekend

This weekend was the best birthday weekend ever. My birthday was on Thursday 30 September, and I was in Johannesburg for the week. My mother and her family decided to have a birthday party for me on the Friday night. My entire family was there, cousins and children and the works. I also invited my friends from Joburg who i miss so much. Tristan flew up for the evening to celebrate with me. I had a fab time. we had a braai and once again there was just way too much food but I loved having everybody there.

Then we flew back home on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday my friend Lesley had organised a fabulous party for me and my friends here in Cape Town. Tristan suggested that we have a Mad Hatter tea party under a huge Syringa tree in Camps Bay. well the day could not have been better. There was a Wig or Thong theme and there were so many nice things to eat and nice tea to be had. For those who wanted to, there was G&Tees....

I am so happy and feels o blessed to have had this weekend of birthday parties and have such amazing people around me. I also got stunning presents, including a Evita B cookbook signed by Evita her/himself, LOADS of sweets and snacks, an amazing dress shirt and an original ceramic from Philip Dillon-Barrett. I had such a good weekend.

Gym etiquette

This week has been extremely funny at gym again. Going to the gym I go to in Cape Town, I am not as exposed to the conceited, gay/straight men who go to gym to brag and show off. Here in Joburg it is a little different. The gym in Houghton (we all know which one it is) is filled with self centered conceited men both gay and straight who walk around the gym showing off their muscles and pretending to be so important. Then I went to the same group but in another area where there are loads of school kids who go there after school. I was on one of the cardio machines when I glanced over at another machine where a young boy was on. He was about 8 and had the earphones plugged into the machine so he could hear what was going on on TV. He was clearly watching a cartoon channel because he was screaming with laughter and at the same time running at full speed on the machine laughing and shrieking. I could not help but think how funny this kid would have been in the other gym. While all the stay puff boys walk around gym taking themselves soooo serious, he is laughing as loud as he can and playing on the machine.....

DON'T TAKE YOURSELVES SO SERIOUS!!!! It's just gym. A big body means nothing in the real life. If you don't have a brain (which very few of you have) it means nothing. Have some fun at gym.

And the arrest

So I am still sitting on the freeway and the minute I look in my rear view mirror and I see a bakkie standing on the other side of the freeway and two guys in bullet proof vests jump out and jump over the barrier pointing guns at a car in the traffic. After a few seconds they pull the driver out of the car, throw him on the tarr, kick him a few times and then cuff him. They continue to kick him while he is lying on the ground cuffed. Our cops are so brave....

Traffic desaster

There is a huge traffic jam on the freeway to Pretoria. There seems to be a huge accident up ahead. The 8th emergency vehicle has just crawled past and up ahead there is one car at a time going past the accident. I have now moved 5km in an hour and the 10th emergency vehicle just passed us. I love Joburg!

Italian Sausage

Trying to save work clothes for this week, because our maid is now coming at different times, I had to wear my Italian tablecloth shirt, and for some reason over the past few months I have gotten so fat that I now look like and Italian Sausage in this shirt. Actually in all my clothes. I could not even get the towel to stay closed on my naked ass this morning.

Its very depressing and I am trying to get out of this fat rut, but its not easy.

Bitch over!

The long weekend catchup

We had a public holiday on Friday (Heritage day) but everybody knows it as Braai day. So needless to say there were braai's going on all over the country. We had a birthday party on Friday out in Stellenbosch which was great. On Saturday we met a friend of mine who has a new boyfriend. I am so happy for him. They look very happy and in lurve...

The long weekend was good to rest, but I feel so tired this morning. At least I got to drive around in my nice new car often this weekend. Yes yes, I promise to post a pic of my car here soon.

So now I am at work preparing for my trip to Johannesburg again. I enjoy going there coz I see my family and my friends, but its not that much fun anymore travelling away from home. And on top of it all I am going to have to go to Amsterdam for 2 weeks in December on my own for work. At least Tristan is coming to Johannesburg this weekend to celebrate my birthday with me and the family!!!

The dinner party

Last week we went to friends for dinner. Tristans friends. We very rarely get invited to his friends, and that was once again proven when one of the couples there asked where we have been coz they have been to many dinners at one of Tristans closest friends, and we were not there. Its because we do not get invited. The evening was great though, had some nice food and some great conversation. At the end of the night I had some tea and when the guy brought it to me, he crept up behind me, I was explaining something and the next minute I felt my hand and crotch on fire. The tea had spilt all over my arm and burnt it. Now it looks like a horrible birthmark and now its starting to peel. Its not a nice thing. At least the evening was great.

Time flies when you are having......fun?

It has been a very long time since I wrote a post, and the main reason is just that I have been so busy. I got this amazing new job that keeps me busy from the minute I get to work until I have to leave. It is really good though because I finally get to use my brain a bit and I am doing so well. My traveling has increased as I now go to JHB at least every 3 weeks or so, but I still really miss Mpumalanga sooooo much. I have been here only 5 months and already things are happening for me. We are all going to Amsterdam in December for the Christmas party at HQ...

Then at the beginning of the month I bought a new car. A Volvo S40. And I LOVE it. It is so amazing. I am so happy with my purchase. I will post a photo of my car soon. Other than that there is not much else that has happened. I will start posting again from now on so keep an eye on it.

Speak soon.

The day

Well yesterday was a slightly crap day. We had a meeting at work and we were told that there are some people in the office that gets distracted, so we are not allowed to have our cell phones on anymore. We are already not allowed to receive private phone calls at work, so between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 we are to drop off the face of the earth. Then we were told that we should limit our private conversations in the the office as this is also distracting others. I just started enjoying this job, when they changed my area, putting more pressure on me and giving me an area which is not as cool as mine was, and now they are forcing us to work like we are in a Chinese sweatshop. I am not sure if I am just a little over sensitive to this, and if this kind of thing is happening all over the business world, but I think its archaic to make someone completely unreachable during office hours. When the hell must we do things and organise stuff. I understand the balance between work and private life, but this is also no balance. Then I went to gym and realised I gained weight, body fat and my BMI is up....All in all its been a shit day....At least I am getting a new car next week.
