Human Nature

I had the privilege once again today to witness human nature at work. Standing at a till point at the local supermarket, there was a lady ahead of me finishing off by paying. The lady behind the till swiped her card and eventually said to her that the swipe machine requested them to phone her bank for authorization. This was when human nature kicked in:

The woman paying was visibly distraught, and kept on saying: "Its a credit card, you don't need authorization". The human nature aspect of her argument was clear when she started defending herself by making it very clear to everybody around her that there is more than enough money in the card and nobody has ever needed to phone for authorization. It was vitally important to her that everyone understood that she had enough money.

She was trying so hard to blame the machine, or the lady behind the till, that she completely lost all sense of reality. She was adamant that a credit card always goes through, and that you never need to phone for authorization. This is the human psyche. She was so concerned that people around her would think that she doesn't have money.

Earth Hour

I think we have tampered with the world's biorhythms by initiating things like earth hour and green energy and stuff. We were all doing fine until all these things came up. Now there is a general trend among people of feeling down and tired and moody. I think its because we are trying to change something that earth has already adapted to....

Well I don't really think that, but there is a general down turn in the human mood. Or at least in my immediate surroundings. People are struggling more, they are more moody, they are more depressed and just negative in general. Me included!!

Maybe its the radiated food we are eating, or maybe its the organic shit fertilizing veggies. Whatever it is, we are a little off centre and we need to get back on the axle as a species, or we will never be able to get back on again.

Ain't it nice to shoot the breeze on a Friday morning......

Philosophy Friday

As I sit here preparing for my trip to Johannesburg next week, I think about people around me and in my life. People have this set picture in their mind of how things must happen and should happen (including me) and it almost NEVER works that way. So what do we do, should we stop dreaming, should we stop hoping for a better life. That would be like stopping being human. Which a friend asked me about yesterday. Knowing all the things we go through and the feelings we experience, do you wish you were not human.

I believe we have to constantly dream and constantly strive to higher and better. Don't give up because others tell you to. And as for the human thing, I would not change all the feelings, experiences, hurt, laughter for anything in the world.

I dream
I wish
I hope
I love
I cry
I live
