The day of the wedding

Well it finally came along, and after all the stress and panic of the past week, the day turned out memorable. The venue was beautiful and not even the slight breeze (Cape Town kind of breeze) could ruin the day. As Ginger came down the isle, she looked like a wedding book model. She was amazing and even my hard-ass cousin had to subtly wipe a tear away. The message from the priest was so nice and fitting, but the highlight of the ceremony was the singing! Two friends of Chris and Ginger (Tony and Adrienne) sang Come what may from Moulin Rouge. It was so beautiful, with the 12 Apostles mountains in the background. EVERYBODY in the crowd were crying by now, including me. It was magical.

The reception was like a fairytale and even if I must say so myself, my speech went down very well. We had a slight issue with the wedding cake about 1 hour before the ceremony, but between the cake lady and the flower guy, they managed to sort it out and produce the spectacular cake in the picture. (Considering this was created in 45 minutes from scratch, I think it looks great)

Like I predicted, my mom had everybody hanging on her lips by the end of the night with the jokes and the stories.

The Americans were sooo nice. Amazing friends and really nice family. It has been a great weekend and phenomenal wedding and after party and everything else.....

And now my cousin will be moving to the US. He is in very good hands with everybody, and we have got enough free holidays in the US to last us a good few years!!!

105 and counting

Its only 105 days until my cousin Chris and his fiance Ginger are tying the knot at the every beautiful 12 Apostles. I can not wait for it. Everything is organised, I hope, and its going to be soooo romantic. They are getting married in the garden at 12 Apostles, and then the reception is going to be in a little side room, with lots of windows out on the ocean and candles everywhere. It is going to be so nice. We haven't had a nice wedding in our family for a while, and this one is very special to me, only after my sisters of course.

So guys. Hope you are ready!!!

D day

So its Friday and that means its D day. I hope they don't stall and forget to phone me. Things are getting a little hairy in the office, and to top it all...It looks like me cousin is going to stay in America. That means I will only see him once every few years....It sucks!!!

Its time for coffee, and not the blue Jacobs, the real thing. From the coffee machine upstairs.

The wedding

Well, I have been trying to hold off with this for as long as I could because at first it wasn't public knowledge, and then after a while I wanted it to be really special and made a big deal about it....but here goes....

Chris is getting married to Ginger......

And its all happening in Cape Town, and at the glorious 12 Apostles, and I am going to be there, and whats more I am BEST MAN (finally someone recognises that I am the best man), and I am so happy I can barely speak....

Ok at first I was crapping myself, coz Chris and Ginger wanted me to help from here with the arrangements, and I was sooooo nervous, coz what if I get something wrong, or what if I suggest something and they didn't like it. Then the flower guy (Blommie) asked me if Chris and I were close, so I said yes, coz I think we are...so he told me to then treat the wedding like its my own, coz I will know what Chris will like. So I did, and now things are going much better.

Quickly a word on the bride. I cant not be happier that Chris has chosen this particular American to marry. She is such an amazing lady, VERY pretty, stunning person, and loves my cousin so much. She is perfect for him. The the groom...Well its Chris....we are all just happy he found a girlfriend and isn't part of my family....tee hee....I am so happy for him coz I can see how happy Ginger makes him, and how much he loves her.

So on to the next hurdle...the best man thing...now being of the persuasion I am, I haven't been exposed to many best man duties. My friends don't tend to get married.....So I am nervous as to what to do and what to say. At least I have the speech sort of under control. Yes Chris I have already started working on the speech.

Guys I am so happy you have asked me to help you out, and am here to do and run as much as you want. I cant wait to see both of you, and for the record Ginger. I was and still am planning to do a daily feature on here for the last week before the wedding...

Love you both madly.
