Joburg again
I am back in Joburg again on business but this time I decided it would be great to drive around town in a 1100 neon blue Atos. For some strange reason I had booked this group when I booked my car hire online. I am not sure what I was thinking about when I booked it. Now I look like the biggest queen on earth, calling on high powered clients in my girl car. I miss my Volvo!

Mining and the world
So this whole week the world has been watching the Chilean Miners and specifically yesterday the whole day rescue effort. I have been sort of watching it from time to time and being an avid Skye News watcher in the mornings, have been forced to watch it as it is the only thing that was showing on international news channels the entire day. I am so happy they rescued all of these miners who have been stuck and away from their families. It must have been really crap being underground for that long not knowing what your fate will be. However. ENOUGH now. There are so many more important issues in the world happening that can be reported on. I mean who (apart form their families) wants to really see 39 men being pulled out of a hole in a suffocating tube at 100m per 5min??? I for one would rather choose to stay underground as apposed to going in that thing. Show the first one, maybe the second one, go to world news, the weather, show a few current affairs program then come back after a few hours and show the 3rd one. Not this pull by pull account of it. Its like those freaks who watch Big Brother while they are sleeping....
And in other news, our intelligent president has made it clear that he will once again use his power in the UN security council to further the cause of corrupt, autocratic, oppressive countries like Zimbabwe, Myanmar probably Iran....oh no wait sorry hes said to help struggling third world countries...
Nkosi Sikelei Africa....

A good start
I saw this sign at Cavendish (one of Cape Town's upmarket shopping centres). It was above the hand dryer in the gents toilet. We have serious landfill issues in our city at the moment, so this is a very welcome change of attitude. Unfortunately it is not the big corporate companies that worry me, its the small minded masses who have no issue discarding hundreds if bags of refuse per month...

Driving to work
I really need some sort of calming agent to get to work. I can not deal with these idiots on the road. There is not a single person on the road that can drive a car properly or know the rules of the road!!!! One day I am afraid i am going to get out of my car and kill someone.....

Birthday Weekend
This weekend was the best birthday weekend ever. My birthday was on Thursday 30 September, and I was in Johannesburg for the week. My mother and her family decided to have a birthday party for me on the Friday night. My entire family was there, cousins and children and the works. I also invited my friends from Joburg who i miss so much. Tristan flew up for the evening to celebrate with me. I had a fab time. we had a braai and once again there was just way too much food but I loved having everybody there.
Then we flew back home on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday my friend Lesley had organised a fabulous party for me and my friends here in Cape Town. Tristan suggested that we have a Mad Hatter tea party under a huge Syringa tree in Camps Bay. well the day could not have been better. There was a Wig or Thong theme and there were so many nice things to eat and nice tea to be had. For those who wanted to, there was G&Tees....
I am so happy and feels o blessed to have had this weekend of birthday parties and have such amazing people around me. I also got stunning presents, including a Evita B cookbook signed by Evita her/himself, LOADS of sweets and snacks, an amazing dress shirt and an original ceramic from Philip Dillon-Barrett. I had such a good weekend.
