Had a really good supper with some friends last night. Food was good as usual and the conversation was very interesting and at times enlighten. As with this particular ex party couple, the conversation turned to addicts and addictions, and one of the ex party goers was speaking about how the program they are in, doesn't speak about or mention drugs being bad, its more about the relationship you have with it, and your addiction to it that is dealt with. I have a bit of a problem with that (time for me to get onto my soapbox). There is nothing that anybody can say or do that makes drugs ok. It is an evil thing that destroys lives and kills people. The effects of drugs not only ruin your life, but also that of those around you. You might think you are shit cool when you are out of your mind, and you might think it is ok and people like you, but the reality of it all is.....you are a tosser. You act like a bastard, you think only of yourself (but not hard enough coz you are busy killing your braincells and your body), and in fact you are the furthest away from cool, that you can ever be. And by the way...just because EVERYBODY is doing it, and EVERYBODY thinks they are shit hot, doesn't make it so.....

Supper

For centuries humanity has sought refuge in the intoxicating allure of some of the most potent drugs, hallucinogens and stimulants they could get their hands on. The practise is as old as the hills. It's a new phenomenon of recent where people embrace the addiction aspect and, in turn, use that as another form of escape. It's something else that helps them "get by", "pass the time", and deal with life. It's said that drugs are not evil, per-say, but the addiction that grips them is evil. I firmly believe in the freedom of choice. If some people choose to drink themselves into a coma - let them. But I also believe in helping those that ask for help and realise that they've lost control. With anything in life moderation is the key.
Ive never met this fella, Tristan but I think he is a pretty level headed guy.Neef, you and I have had this conversation more times than I can remember and it seems you have not gotten any less "harsh" on people using and abusing drugs.....Anyway I have been able to not need to ever have ths conversation with anyone ever again so I'm going to leave it at that :o)

We corrupt our lives with them or put them to good use. You can stab someone or chop them a healthy salad. The choice is yours. Drugs kill and drugs heal but they are still just drugs and we taint them with our own issues. But I also think coke, cat and tik heads behave like assholes so I don't do dinner with them.
