Walking the Camino

So a few posts ago I wrote about my anxiety of walking the Camino, mainly because of what I am busy reading in a book about a much older gentleman, and what he went through before he left, and the preparations he entered into beforehand.

I have now progressed in the book to the point where he is accounting his daily activities on the actual Camino. It is becoming much more interesting now, and I am filled with excitement, hope and expectations again. What he experienced was just complete selfless acts of humanity. People helping each other without even know your name. People dedicating themselves to the Pilgrims walking the route, opening their shops at 5:00 in the morning, not to make more money, but purely to assist pilgrims in need.

The book has filled me with so much excitement for what lies ahead. Every night I read from it, I want to start my Camino further back so that I can experience some of the things this man has, knowing that it will never be the same for me.

I am now more than ever convinced that I should be walking this road this year. Although I can not pin point exactly the reasons for me doing it, I know for sure that one of the main reasons, is so I can talk to people here in my own country about it, and people who have never even heard of the Camino, can get to know about it.

There is still soooo much to be bought and done before we leave, but I am ready and willing to leave right now if I had to.

Weekend Walk

As some of you may or may not know, we are undertaking a very big hiking holiday at the end of the year. We are going to walk the Camino in Spain. Well half of it anyway. So we decided to start practicing for the walk by doing some of the walking trails around Cape Town. We started this weekend and did the contour path below table mountain. It was amazing with the most spectacular views of the city and the mountain, and the most amazing water stops along the way. Below are some of the pics.

Lions head, Signal Hill and Robben Island in the distance

Week Update

I have had no time this week to post anything, so here is my week update.

On Tuesday I won R1000 on 5Fm (a local radio station), and am now in the draw for the grand prize today. R30 000 worth of apple goodies which includes a Mac book, a iPhone, iPod, and.....Apple TV...I am so excited I can almost not sit still at work. This is however over shadowed by Tristan's continuing headaches, that the doctors can't really identify the cause of. He has had a headache, non stop, for about 2 weeks now, and I can see that it is so painful. He has been for a CAT scan, and yesterday went for a MRI, and the doctors response is just: "it might be this, or maybe that, but here use these nose drops, coz maybe its a sinus headache". Not good enough. They need to figure out what is going on with him RIGHT NOW!!!

On a lighter note, we booked and paid for our air tickets this week, and they were R2500 less than we budgeted for. BONUS. So now there is no turning back. The holiday is in full swing.

That is my week so far, I will keep you all informed as to the situation of my Apple Acquisition today.

My Holiday

So for those of you who do not know by now, we are going to do the pilgrimage in Spain in December this year. Camino de Santiago de Compostella. So it is with great affection that I appeal to EVERYBODY reading this blog, NOT to send me any presents for my birthday, Christmas, Valentines, or just gifts to tell me what a great blog I have. SEND MONEY IN STEAD.....

Its going to be a very spiritual time for me, but a very expensive time none the less. So dig deep and send me all those coins and notes.

Love and light!!!!

First day of Holiday

So its the first day of my holiday, officially. I am got the whole week off due to good behaviour and am going on holiday Friday. Today was the first official day of my holiday and we spent it driving around trying to find Christmas lights. Instead we bought camping chairs, wine, a jerry can, and finally got some lights. Its been a very interesting day. Tristan has been feeling a little down and I don't know what to do with him.

But its only 3 sleeps till Christmas, and 4 sleeps till we go on our camping trip to the Oranje river. Its such an exciting time of the year. Its my favourite time of the year. All we have to get sorted now, is dinner tonight.
