Angel with a broken wing
This morning Tefnut, the female cat, jumped onto the window pane in the lounge and bumped my glass angel off that I got as a present from Linda. Needless to say it fell to the ground and both wings broke off. I an so furious with her. I grabbed the spray bottle and sprayed her in the face, but the worst of all is she did not even flinch. She stared at me as if to say, "have you gone mad?". This morning I am ready to kill the cats. I know its not a big deal and I know its things that can be fixed, but its just at a bad time that I lost my mind temporarily and bought two cats.

Hillsong
So went to the opening of the Hillsong Church in Cape Town. Its a Sydney based church who has come to South Africa. I was expecting the normal evangelistic youth type of vibe where there is allot of signing of gospel inspired songs accompanied by a band of young people playing cool rock instruments and rock music. Then a cool young preacher will come up and preach to the masses and everybody will be shouting "amens" and "hallelujah". Well, that was exactly what it was. It was very interesting especially for me, who have been going to the NG Church for the past 30 years. I was extremely uncomfortable in the beginning with the rock like singing and hands in the air worshiping, and even when the preacher was giving his sermon, I was still not comfortable with the hands in the air thing. I do however think this is a great way to get youngsters back in church and get them excited about God. Its the "cool kids church". There were allot of youngsters who looked like they were really enjoying it. I will go back to this church from time to time, but I think it is going to take some getting used to for me, the old traditionalist Afrikaans boy with the Creepy Crawly Christmas tree....

Great meal and Good friends
Last night was another one of those evenings where I was surrounded by good friends, great food, and conversation varying from stimulating to utter crap. It was great! Went to Chandani (Indian restaurant in Woodstock) for Linda's birthday, and we laughed and spoke and ate and drank (some more than others) and cuddled and kissed. It was a great evening out with great friends, and fantastic entertainment, thanks to Haji and numerous other characters out of the Naked Drag Queen kist. It made me realise once again what is important in life. Living it, with loved ones and friends around you, around a dinner table and just letting each person be who they want to be.I love my friends.

Kismet

Its a real winters day, and I am sitting with my Barcelona beanie on in the office, but I still don't look as hot in it. ;-) This weather always makes me a little melancholy, so I started thinking about Bruce and Kismet. No, I am not in love with Bruce, although he is MADLY in love with me. JOKES. I am of course referring to rejection. It is the worse thing in the world. There is truly nothing worse than that....Well except maybe for getting your nether region caught in a vice, but how that will ever happen, I am not sure. I have introduced Bruce to the word Kismet, but I am a little weary of using it myself. When is it Kismet that you are with someone. When is it pre-ordained, when do we hand it over to our Higher Power and "let go, and let God"?
I strongly believe in soul mates, but I am not sure I believe in Kismet. The odds are too high. I find it difficult that destiny, or the universe or our Higher Power has put every single persons soul mate in the same city or even country as them, as about 90% of humans only ever date people in their own city. Think about it. Everybody in the world has their soul mate in the same place as them. Its just not possible Linda!!!!
So where does this all lead me to? I think Kismet is a nice way to keep us occupied until we meet someone that we can be with for the rest of our lives. Some of us are lucky enough to have met their soul mates, and an even smaller percentage of us are lucky enough to have their soul mate as their love partner (but thats a whole other Oprah story). So my advise is....just keep swimming, just keep swimming...keep on that dating train and keep meeting people and keep on getting your heart broken. I for one would not want to be with someone whose heart is still in tact. They will not know how to fell, how to cry, how to fear, how to live, and I dont want to have a partner who cant feel anything. Soul mate or Love mate.
